Making their triuphant return to Jamtopia, Taper's Choice blew Boulder, CO away. The crowd at The Velvet Elk Lounge was not prepared for the headiness the boys brought. Opening with a solid version of Toad, the boys went for it right out of the gate. Driving into prog adjacent territory before wowing us the first known complete version of Pino. That blissful peice of music after the drop back into Pino is its proper ending. They closed out the THREE song set with a rocking version of Darkness that Dave took for the longest of walks before wrapping up for set break. Taper's picked right up where they left off if the second set coming out strong with Running From the Rain before the fantasic jam vehicle Close Encounters. We get a moment to breath with a lovely rendition of Waiting for the Flood that showcases the existential side of the band. The band picks it back up with a Dave Test (No) before opener Tom Hamilton joins the band onstage. As Dave conducts the band with Tom they finally take the jump into a full blown Doors cover after 2 years of "micro-doorsing" with a smooth transition into Five to One. An amazing show from front to back with many highlights. A must listen.
